The 2018 NHS Football Captains
NHS CAPTAIN: ROB JOHNSTON
POS: HB / LB Rob had a breakout season as a junior and established himself as a premier linebacker in the CAL. Although Rob's numbers did not jump off of the page in 2017, he deserves a lot of the credit for the nearly 2,000 yards of rushing as the lead blocker out of the backfield. Rob stepped up in big moments with big plays and was a strong member on offense, defense and special teams. As the season wore on he stepped up as a pass catching threat out of the backfield as well and proved to be a sure handed and reliable weapon on offense. Winner of the 2017 Luther Reed Toughness Award. Rob was also an Honorable Mention for the 2017 Newburyport Daily News All Star Team. |
NHS CAPTAIN: SEAMUS WEBSTER
POS: WR / DB
Seamus was one of the hardest working players during the 2016 off season and players and coaches alike appreciate his work ethic and determination. A physical wide out who has the versatility to run between the tackles and get down the field on the perimeter on offense. He will most likely be asked to do much of the same as a senior captain playing multiple positions on offense, defense and special teams. Seamus is another example of a player who rarely came out and who's motor was always running.

NHS CAPTAIN: TREVOR FOLEY
POS: C / LB Trevor was forced into a big role as a sophomore, starting at center, linebacker and most special teams including long snapping. As a sophomore, it is difficult to play one side of the ball at a varsity level. Trevor managed to never come off of the field and be an impact player at the same time. Trevor is a big physical downhill linebacker with a throw back style. He stepped up in big moments this season, including a critical fumble recovery vs. Pentucket (pictured) and an interception that sealed the win for the Clipper at Triton in the Border Battle game. Trevor's football bloodlines run deep at NHS, his grandfather, Wall of Fame member, Jack Foley was an all star captain on the Class C championship in 1956. |
NHS CAPTAIN: JAKE LANE
POS: WR / OLB / LS Jake was named Captain after a dedicated off season and proven leadership in the preseason. He was a weight room presence and motivator for players coming up this summer and fall. Jake has worked his way back from injury last year (breaking his collar bone in the opener last season). Jake has been a huge target in the passing game so far this season and has come up big in defensive and special team situations as well. A leader on and off of the field, Jake is also involved in many clubs, activities and student government programs at NHS. |
